In a bid to legitimise tenancy and pacify land disputes in Buganda region the Buganda land board has launched a six month campaign dubbed ”A land Tittle for every one” aimed at ensuring that all persons on Kabaka’s land get land tittles.
The Katikiro says that the Buganda Land Board, the official custodian of all Buganda Land will lead the process.
Speaking at the campaign launch, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, said that the move is intended to improve the relation between the Kabaka and his subjects.
He noted that the campaign is also a way by which the kingdom intends to pay back for the tremendous contributions people have made towards the development of Buganda Kingdom.
According to Kyewalabye Male, the Managing Director of Buganda Land Board, the first beneficiaries are those whose land was surveyed during the recently concluded massive survey exercise.
The Katikkiro added that this is directive from the Kabaka who is eager to sort out the land disputes among-est his subjects which have mainly resulted from lack of land titles.
