Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in a move for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.
Mourinho wants to sign a new centre-back to become the long-term partner for Eric Bailly.
The Mirror claim the Special One has ‘no chance’ in landing top target Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.
And the United chief is now looking into a deal for Umtiti and would be willing pay the 23-year-old’s £53m buyout clause.
Roma striker Patrick Schick admits he wants to play for one of world football’s elite clubs in the near future.
The 21-year-old only joined Roma in the summer but already has his eyes on more illustrious names.
In an interview with Reporter magazine, he said: “Money? I take it as motivation, and I hope that in a few years I can move to an even bigger club where logically I’ll be paid even more – that motivation has always helped me a lot.
“It’s not really possible to move much higher [than Roma] but there are a few clubs… let’s say Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United.”
Belgium boss Roberto Martinez is convinced United star Romelu Lukaku will bounce back from his baron spell very soon.
He said: “For me nothing has changed in Romelu’s mind. He is confident, he has an incredible belief in what he can bring.
“All I want is that he carries on seeing himself in that manner when he scores and when he doesn’t, which is going to be highlighted in a club like Manchester United.
“I’ve got a big advantage with Romelu because I’ve worked with him for four years… I know Romelu inside out.
“I think he just relishes the challenge. He’s been enjoying a really good start to the season and now is a period he is ready to cope with.
“I have no worries whatsoever. All he needs to do in his career is to carry on being himself in a club with the expectations and the demand of Manchester United.”
