An uneasy calm prevails in Apaa village days after tribal clashes broke out between the Madi and the Acholi in the northern district of Amuru.

At least 5 people were killed and many others injured in the clashes.

The army has denied any involvement in the clashes.

Dr Rugunda is visiting the area at the height of renewed clashes between communities in Amuru and Adjumani districts. The two communities have been embroiled in a land dispute triggered by the inclusion of Pabbo Sub County, in Amuru district as part of Adjumani district.

The district LCV Chairman, Michael Lakony, says they won’t accept to hold any talks with the Madi until the people who killed their tribesmen are brought to justice.

The long-standing conflict is over a boundary that separates Adjumani from Amuru district.
