Two school children and a boda boda rider are said to be among five people who lost their lives this afternoon in an accident involving a Boda Boda and a school bus in Alebtong district.

The Accident occurred On Lira-Soroti Road 2km From Lira Town In A Place Called Anwet Angwet.

According to an Eye Witness, an Over Speeding Bodaboda Carrying 4 Children Of Rima Nursary And Primary School overtook Rock Bus to branch to the  School and when he heard the Bus hoot, he tried  to go back to his left, Only to bump  into the Bus, killing four on Spot. Later one  of the youngest Kid Died In The Hospital.

The deceased children have been identified as Cissy Akello, a primary four pupil of Rima Primary School in Lira, and her brother, Denis Odoch, a senior two student at Buluge Comprehensive Secondary School, while the boda boda cyclist has been identified as Francis Angom.

Akello and Odoch are children to Charles Aogwok, a resident of Aloi in Alebtong district. Mr Aogwok’s other three-and-half year old child also sustained injuries in an accident that happened at about 1:45pm in Angweta-angwet just in front of Rima primary school along the Lira -Soroti highway.

According to David Ongom Mudong, the North Kyoga Police spokesperson,  he confirmed that the three children were being ridden on a boda boda motorcycle from Aloi in Alebtong district when a bus registration number UAU 420 V belonging to Rock Transporters Company veered off the road and knocked the rider and his passengers.

Police say the bus driver was over speeding.
