Police has arrested 113 suspects for allegedly terrorizing people most especially in Kampala. Among them are 6 women who were arrested in a 2- weeks period over criminality.

Addressing journalists at the central police station, the commandant Kampala metropolitan police Frank Mwesigwa said those arrested have been on the police watch list for a while now following reports of murder, robbery and theft.

 

KMP Commander CP Frank Mwesigwa, said  that the suspects were picked from areas of Bwaise, Kawempe, Najjera, Makindye, Kiira division, Mukono and city Centre.

He added  that SMG riffle with 24 rounds of ammunition, pistol with 9 rounds of ammunition, 13 toy pistols, 4 pangs, knives, axes, 2 bags of opium and heavy duty cutter among other tools recovered during the operation.

 

Mwesigwa noted that from the interrogation, the mode of transport between the suspects has been motor vehicles and motorcycles adding, 15 motor vehicles and 4 motor cycles have been recovered.

“Statements taken from the victims match with those of the criminals meaning the operation was successful” Mwesigwa said during the press conference at CPS, Kampala on Wednesday adding, “We also did suspect parade in which the victims identified the thieves”

According to Frank Mwesigwa, so far 92 suspects have appeared before the courts of law and charged with aggravated robbery, murder, simple robbery and have been remanded to Luzira prisons as police conducts further investigation.

He noted that the operation continues to ensure a crime free city
